Ganga Aarti: In the glory of Maa Ganga

Ganga Aarti is performed every evening in the holy cities of Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Varanasi in India. According to Hindu culture, It is one of the most popular spiritual rituals that is done to show respect and gratitude to Goddess Ganga for protecting mankind.

This ritual is taking place on Ganga Dussehra, it is believed that Maa Ganga is descended from heaven to earth. During this time small diyas with a candle on them will be floating down through River.

The lamps are lit and circled the pandit with singing songs that praise Mother Ganga, The sermon is very unique in each place.

The divine lights of Ganga: Varanasi

Holy Dasawamedh Ghat, near Kashi  Vishwanath Temple, is the place where Ganga Aarti in Varanasi takes the palace. It is a highly planned ceremony when compared to aarti Haridwar and Rishikesh.

The aarti is conducted on a stage by a group of young pandits, all bandaged in saffron-coloured jackets with their puja plates spread out before them. 

The action of the lights, which will be on the hands of the pandits‘, is tightly arranged to the harmonious chants of songs and clang of cymbals. The heady aroma of sandalwood thickly pervades the air.

Ganga Aarti at feet of the Lord: Haridwar

Har- ki-Pauri ghat means “Feet of the Lord” is the destination in which Ganga Aarti is performed in Haridwar. There is a footprint on a stone wall that is said to refer to Lord Vishnu.

In terms of spiritual significance, Har-ki-Pauri and Dashashwamedh Ghat where the aarti takes place in Varanasi is considered the same. Some people say that it’s too retail, flocked, and noisy. However, It is one of the most awe-inspiring things you can ever witness in India.

The most famous Ganga Aarti takes place at the bank of the Ganga River at parmarth Niketan ashram, Rishikesh. It’s a much more comfortable and peaceful affair than the aarti at Haridwar and Varanasi and is barren of the theatrics as well. Many people like it for these reasons,They find it much purer. 

Ashram residents organisation and perform Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan particularly the vedha students of ashram used to conduct this. The event is filled with spiritual Bajans and prayers which will provide happiness to your mind. A large statue of Lord Shiva overlooks the proceedings.

According to devotees, the Ganga Aarti is a spiritual ceremony that symbolises the glory and blessings of the goddess Ganga. The locals celebrate it well with all its recognition. 

This is the best time to tell their thanks to goodness Ganga for protecting them. After the ritual is finished, believers will cup their hands over the fire and put forward their palms to their forehead to get the goddess’s sanctification and blessing.

This ritual is highly famous among Indians since the ancient age because Ganga is a devoted, goddess according to Hindu mythology.
