1. Banaras Hindu University:
Banaras Hindu University, located in the holy city of Varanasi, is an internationally reputed temple of learning. This creative and innovative university was founded by the great nationalist leader Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya in 1916, through the great collaboration of great personalities such as Dr. Annie Besant, who envisioned it as the University of India. Banaras Hindu University was created under parliamentary legislation – the BHU Act 1915
It is ranked No. 1 in Varanasi, No. 2 in Uttar Pradesh, and No. 10 in India. It was founded in 1915.

2. Indian Institute of Technology, BHU:
The University will seek not merely to turn out men as engineers, scientists, doctors, merchants, theologians but also as men of high character, probity and honour, whose conduct through life will show they bear the hall-mark of a great University.
A teaching university would but half perform its function if it does not seek to develop the heart-power of its scholars with the same solicitude with which it develops their brain-power. Hence it is that the proposed university has placed formation of character in youth as one of its principal objects.
It is ranked No. 2 in Varanasi, No. 7 in Uttar Pradesh, and No. 74 in India. It was founded in 1919.

3. Mahatma gandhi kashi vidyapith:
Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith is a Public University located in Varanasi or Benaras, Uttar Pradesh, India. Established in 1921 as Kashi Vidyapith and later renamed, it is administered under the state legislature of the government of Uttar Pradesh. The university has more than 350+ affiliated colleges spread over five Districts(Varanasi, Chandauli, Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra). It is one of the largest State Universities in Uttar Pradesh, with hundreds of thousands of students, both rural and urban. It offers a range of Professional and Academic courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Computing and Management. Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidypeeth has earned B+ status from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
It is ranked No. 3 in Varanasi, No. 35 in Uttar Pradesh, and No. 338 in India.

4. Central institute of higher Tibetan studies:
Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies at Sarnath in Varanasi is a Government-Central ‘deemed to be university’ established under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The Institute, being a residential one, is fully funded by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
It is ranked No. 4 in Varanasi, No. 51 in Uttar Pradesh, and No. 537 in India. It was founded in 1967.

5. Sampurnanand Sanskrit University:
Every middle-aged person living in India dreams of visiting Varanasi at some point in his/her life due to religious and historical prominence of the region. Considered as one of the holiest cities in India, it has loads of temples
